About: Courier and Distributor
The Company is a Transport distribution company operating from their headquarters in Bloemfontein.
They run a fleet of large trucks which receive bulk goods from their principals countrywide, transport them to
their warehouse in Bloemfontein. The goods are then split up by destination customer. The goods are loaded onto trucks with goods from other principals for specific retail stores.
As is usual with companies delivering goods they had a problem
establishing who had received goods, and if proof of that delivery had been received.
Payment is made based on proved deliveries made.
Initially the client purchased our DocPod module. However on investigation we established that the system they used consisted of 3 parts.
1.] Register all items to be delivered, from whom, to whom, which truck etc.
2.] Scan the document when they come back to ensure that there is a record of the delivery.
3.] Invoice the client for deliveries made.
We therefore developed Courier and Distributor for the client. As shipments arrive they are entered as being in the warehouse (or the information imported if a file is delivered by the Principal), they are then allocated to trips, the trips are received, PODs scanned against the relevant waybill, calculation of the amounts payable by the Principal and payable to subcontracting transport companies if necessary.
